The Chicago suburban market looks to regain momentum in 2021 after a year beset by inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With tenants placing long-term decisions on hold, movement was primarily contained to tenants vacating expiring leases in Q4 2020, resulting in 488,575 SF of net negative absorption on the quarter. As vaccines become increasingly available and the population begins to reengage in person, both landlords and tenants expect to revisit strategic occupancy and space planning conversations in the near future.
